Is Aloe Vera Toxic to Dogs?
Yes — Aloe Vera is mildly toxic to dogs
While Aloe Vera is wonderful for human skin, it's mildly toxic to pets. The saponins and latex cause gastrointestinal upset. Most pets recover without treatment, but the bitter taste usually limits how much they eat.
Symptoms in Dogs
If your dog eats Aloe Vera, watch for these symptoms (onset: 6-12 hours):
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Lethargy
- Tremors (rare, large ingestion)
What To Do
Monitor at home for mild cases. Offer water. See vet if vomiting persists or lethargy develops.
