Yes — Cyclamen is moderately toxic to cats
Cyclamen tubers are the most dangerous part — far more toxic than leaves or flowers. A common winter houseplant, the attractive flowers make it a popular gift plant. Root/tuber ingestion can be fatal.
Symptoms in Cats
If your cat eats Cyclamen, watch for these symptoms (onset: 30 minutes to 2 hours):
- Severe vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Heart rhythm abnormalities
- Seizures (large ingestion)
- Death (tuber ingestion)
What To Do
See vet immediately if tuber/root ingested. Flower/leaf ingestion usually causes only GI upset. Cardiac monitoring for large ingestions.
