Desert Rose is in the same family as Oleander (Apocynaceae) and contains similar cardiac glycosides. Its thick, sculptural trunk makes it popular as a bonsai-style plant, but it's extremely dangerous to all pets.
Symptoms in Dogs
If your dog eats Desert Rose, watch for these symptoms (onset: 1-4 hours):
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Irregular heartbeat
- Depression
- Death
