Iris toxicity is concentrated in the rhizomes (underground stems). Dogs who dig in gardens are most at risk. Leaf and flower ingestion typically causes only mild GI upset.
Symptoms in Dogs
If your dog eats Iris, watch for these symptoms (onset: 1-6 hours):
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Drooling
- Lethargy
- Abdominal pain
