Is Tiger Lily Toxic to Dogs?

Yes — Tiger Lily is mildly toxic to dogs

Tiger Lilies are among the most dangerous plants for cats. Every part is toxic — including pollen. A cat brushing against a Tiger Lily and grooming the pollen off their fur has died from kidney failure. Never keep true lilies in a home with cats.

Symptoms in Dogs

If your dog eats Tiger Lily, watch for these symptoms (onset: 6 to 12 hours):

  • Vomiting
  • Lethargy
  • Kidney failure (cats)
  • Loss of appetite
  • Death (cats)

What To Do

CATS: Veterinary emergency. Any exposure — even pollen on fur that is groomed off — can cause fatal kidney failure. Immediate IV fluids needed within 18 hours. DOGS: Mild GI upset only.

This is a veterinary emergency for dogs. Call your vet or ASPCA Poison Control (888) 426-4435 immediately.
