Trailing Jade (not a true Jade plant) is a Senecio relative with thick, overlapping flat leaves. It contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids that can cause liver damage. Often confused with the mildly toxic Jade Plant (Crassula) — Trailing Jade is more dangerous.
Symptoms in Cats
If your cat eats Trailing Jade, watch for these symptoms (onset: 1 to 6 hours):
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Lethargy
- Liver damage (chronic exposure)
